That’s right. Never a brand to cut corners, Rose Gold Audemars Piguet Millenary Chronograph Replica Watch designed a special calibre to fit in that elongated case. Unfortunately, you can’t see any of it in the Millenary Chronograph, which has a closed caseback with the legend MILLENARY engraved in the kind of lettering that makes you wonder if someone’s slipped absinthe into your coffee.

Presumably, the indices on the scale are accurate: the passage of the chrono hand around the face must allow you to track the base units correctly, or it wouldn’t work. But the distorted visual makes it look like it shouldn’t work. And that, perhaps, is the problem with the Millenary Chronograph, and the reason why Audemars Piguet Millenary Chronograph Replica Watch discontinued the model.

The Audemars Piguet Millenary Chronograph26145OR.OO.D095CR.01 is in many ways the weirdest luxury watch Audemars Piguet has ever produced. You can look at (for example) a Royal Oak Offshore Survivor and understand who it’s aimed at (Arnold Schwarzenegger).

The defining characteristic of the Millenary collection is the oval case, which features an off-centre dial and houses a uniquely elliptical movement. The Audemars Piguet Millenary line has had a hard time. It’s been kicking about since the 1990s, but it has yet to find the loyal following enjoyed by the Royal Oak.

The tachymetric scale, which swells from right to left as though it’s been blown into a bubble (think Alice in Wonderland), is in Arabic numerals, to distinguish the indication from the hours and minutes. The case is 47 mm at its widest point, and is in pink gold. It’s water resistant to 20 m—just enough to take a shower and feel comfortable with the watch on, though at this price point I’d be reluctant even to take it into the bathroom. The Audemars Piguet Millenary Replica Watch , two-tone (dark on the outside, light on the inside) leather strap is fixed with a pink gold Audemars Piguet folding clasp.

You can get behind Jay-Z rocking a diamond-studded Offshore. But the Millenary Chronograph? It’s a sports watch. With a tachymetric scale on the dial. Only it looks like an offcut from Salvador Dali’s The Persistence of Memory (you know, the picture with all the melting clocks). When you put it next to the rest of the luxury watches in the Audemars Piguet stable, it’s easy to see why. With its ovoid case, it just doesn’t look like an Audemars Piguet Replica Watch piece. Get past the oddity of these watches, though, and you’ll find them to be every bit as attention-grabbing as their more famous brothers and sisters.
